A Medical Advisor (MA) is scientific expert for specific therapeutic areas, acting as the key link between clinicians, research and the pharmaceutical industry. Providing scientific information to key customers and initiating & maintaining relationships to increase awareness of company’s products. Reporting into the Medical Affairs manager, MA is working as a critical part of the wider medical team, with responsibility for supporting the medical affairs strategy for company portfolio of innovative medicines in current and future indications. MA works as part of a cross-functional matrix, and closely with other functions, in addition, MA can have significant interaction and joint working with global Medical teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the local Medical Strategy and Medical Plan within the covered therapeutic areas
  • Implement the local Medical/Non-Promotional Plan for a respective medicine(s)
  • Lead/support disease area external collaboration and engagement plan
  • Identify and lead collaborations with Key Scientific Experts (physicians & KOLs) within the space of the covered therapeutic areas to increase awareness of company’s medicine(s) by designing, developing, and delivering effective presentation and by coordinating medical education events
  • Provide medical and scientific information to respond to Key Scientific Experts questions about medicine(s) or therapeutic area
  • Lead meetings with Key Scientific Experts to discuss relevant scientific literature and address their scientific enquiries
  • Make educational presentations to Key Scientific Experts, for example on clinical trial data
  • Respond to scientific enquiries from customers and internal colleagues
  • Gather information from Key Scientific Experts as to how they are using company’s medicine(s)
  • Feed this information back to marketing and sales colleagues to help develop marketing materials and commercial strategy
  • Develop and deliver scientific training courses to other staff members and customers
  • Provide information to Key Scientific Experts with an interest in studying company’s products in a different context, or with a different patient group from the one it was initially intended
  • Keep up to date with the latest scientific research and clinical data relevant to company’s focus products
  • Ensures all activities are compliant and have obtained necessary approvals through the appropriate medical, legal, and regulatory review process
  • Providing medical review (and certification if appropriate) for promotional & non-promotional materials and communications
  • Lead/support the local evidence generation program in collaboration with Market Access function within area(s) of focus
  • Support cross-functional activities and support the appropriate use of medicine(s) within clinical practice and patient pathways
  • Providing Medical input into regulatory and / or reimbursement assessment submissions
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medicine or a related field
  • Successful experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong knowledge of working in pharmaceutical market environment; understanding of healthcare industry
  • Scientific expertise in the relevant therapeutic area
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Teamwork skills and an ability to work effectively with a variety of colleagues
  • Networking skills and the confidence to interact with senior experts on a peer-to-peer level
  • Critical data analysis skills
  • A willingness to keep up to date with scientific literature
  • The ability to adapt your writing to meet the needs of different audiences, for example business-focused versus technical audiences
  • A high level of emotional intelligence to work effectively with stakeholders
  • Ability to travel 20% - 30% of the time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, namely Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • English – upper-intermediate
  • Car license
